The European Commission adopted on 3 June 2015 a Communication on the European Citizens' Initiative "Stop Vivisection".
On 19 June 2015, the Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council adopted a partial general approach –excluding the recitals- on the Medical Devices and In Vitro Diagnostic Medical Devices Regulations.
We have decided to extend the deadline for the mail ballot for new members of the EAMBES council until March 13th. Only representatives of the societies can vote and they have received a ballot two weeks ago. So, if you have not voted yet, please take a moment to do so and if you did, many thanks for participating in this democratic process.
Due to health problems our manager Marijke Lensing-Kooiman was, much to her regret, forced to resign from the position of EAMBES manager. EAMBES found a professional manager in Eve Costa - [email protected] - who is willing to take over EAMBES management for a three month period (Jan-Feb-March). She is a charter accountant and she has been managing many SMES for many years. In March it will be decided how to go forward. She is looking forward to meeting you all during the meetings and Scientific Event on March 16 and 17, 2015 in Brussels.
For the course of 2014, health stakeholders in Brussels feared the impact of the proposed General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) on health research. MEPs seeking to limit the influence of insurance companies and other major players in data imposed strict conditions on the transfer of health data and its very use. This would also apply to medical researchers all over Europe.
The ICT infrastructures and tools that the Human Brain Project (HBP) is developing will catalyse the way neuroscience research will be done in the near future, concluded an independent panel of 19 experts, mandated by the European Commission, after the first annual review meeting of the Human Brain Project (HBP) in January 2015.
