Dear EAMBES representatives,
We have opened the call for nomination for the EAMBES General Council.
The General Council is the highest authority of EAMBES and is the driving force in fulfilling its objectives. By standing as a candidate for this election you (and your organization) will take a leading role in supporting Biomedical Engineering in Europe. For this reason, we warmly encourage you to become actively engaged and to stand for election and/or encourage your fellow representatives to do so.
Your EAMBES member organization may also nominate a new representative (in accordance with the number of representatives to the General Assembly you are entitled to), who could then stand for election to the Council. For your information we send attached the current list of the EAMBES representatives with a cordial request to update or correct names and email addresses, if applicable.
This year the Alliance calls for the following nominations:
- ##4 (four) Councillors for the General Council
The President-Elect normally serves for two years in each office (President Elect, President, Past-President). Councillors normally serve for two years, and are expected to participate in the Annual General and Council Meetings (usually in Brussels) and (currently) three annual tele-conferences. We are seeking Councillors who are motivated to actively contribute to various EAMBES initiatives throughout the year.
In order to maintain a balance in the General Council, nominations are sought especially from those representing Societies or Academic Progammes, Institutes or Research Centres. We kindly request all member organizations to bring this to the attention of their representatives in their institutions and networks.
The current composition of the Council may be found through the following link,
http://www.eambes.org/governance, where the Statute and By-laws can also be found.
If you wish to nominate yourself for the position of Councillor of EAMBES, please send us an email ([email protected]) with the following information:
1.your name and surname
1.the organisation you represent
2.a short CV (max. 200 words),
3.a brief statement (max. 100 words) on your aims in standing for election
4.a photo (to help those who are better at remembering faces than names)
Only institutions in good standing can nominate a representative for the General Council elections.
The call for nomination closes at 24.00 on 24th August, 2014.
The election will be held by electronic ballot from 1st September to 1st October 2014. On 8th October 2014 the newly elected members of the General Council will be formally announced.
Thank you for your support,
Chair of the EAMBES Nominating Committee
