CEEDS Project: Revolutionary methods of exploring BIG DATA
September 22, 2014 11:26
On the 11 August 2014, the European Commission reported that the Collective Experience of Empathic Data Systems (CEEDs) project is developing novel, integrated technologies to support analysis and understanding of robust datasets. CEEDs is a large project consising of 16 partners in 9 countries (Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and the UK) who are coordinating efforts so as to optimise human understanding of Big Data.
n essence, researchers within CEEDs are transposing Big Data into an interactive environment to allow the human mind to generate new ideas more efficiently. They have built what they are calling an eXperience Induction Machine (XIM) that uses virtual reality to enable a user to 'step inside' large datasets.
EU involvement in the remit of Big Data is far reaching and the CEEDS project serves to reaffirm the continued support of the European Commission regarding the value of Big Data. This support is particularly evident in recent remarks made by Vice-President of the European Commission; Ms. Neelie Kroes responsible for the Digital Agenda, who has referred to big data as the “new black gold” and has recently called on national governments to wake-up to the Big Data revolution.
